Slight issue with bugs...please help!

Hi

Me and my partner are thinking of moving to Aus but i have one major issue which i am struggling to ignore - i am petrified of spiders and dont do well with bugs although i do get used them after awhile!

I have been to aus before and happily travelled up the west cost staying in hostels etc with no fear but the idea of living in Aus just seems to escalate my fear! What i want to know is are they part of your everyday life i,e do you come accross them (spiders thats is) very often? I just have visions of not being able to potter in the garden incase you get jumped on my a spider or them lerking in your car or in the car port or in the corner of a cupboard whilst spring cleaning!! I am completely bricking it - please can someone tell me if i have watched too many films and need to chill out and am over reacting or that it is a real worry but people just kinda get over it!!

Many thanks!!
Sarah

Hi,

My parents live in Roleystone (just outside Perth) and have been there about 3 and a half years now. In that entire time I think they have seen a few snakes outside (they live on a golf development and go walking there every morning) and have had a few scorpions in the house. Think they have only had one spider in the house.
Bear in mind they don't live in the centre so depending where you are will affect the amount of 'creepies' you see. (Less in the more central zones).

I have looked on quite a few websites about this type of thing and I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Apparently you just need to be careful with things like outdoor furniture when it hasn't been used for a while and check for cobwebs, that type of thing. I think most things are scared away when you approach.

I hope I haven't scared you with all this, hopefully given you a fair view!!

Hope this helps.

Rachel

bugs

Feed Mortein into your comp
This firm makes stuff that will get rid of anything, I dont like using chemicals but sometimes you have to. If you have tiled floors and can bleach them now and again and have aircon chances are you wont get cockroaches, they are after crumbs of food so the cleaner things are theres no free lunch for them, most houses have fly screens. As most places dont get frosts they dont get killed off like in the UK, the hoovers very good for catching flies wherever you are.
