Hi - you'll need to apply for a tax file number which you can do on line.

You need to go to the medicare office (take all your passports) to register with them, don't go before you've been in the country 10 working days (which we did) as the immi computer hasn't registered you yet and you're not on the system.

You have 3 months to change your driving licence.

Do you have children? You can contact local schools before hand and register them.

I'm sure there are other things that people will add.

Hope this helps
Ali

ste or Julie - when do you leave? My daughters school set her up with a pen pal before she arrived whose class she would be in. They corresponded by msn and email and when we arrived the girl came and introduced hereslf and was waiting for her on her first day which was great for Alex and she'd been told a bit about the teachers (whcih ones to watch!!) and it took the edge of being new. I'm sure you're sons school would arrange this too if you asked.
