Hi just wondered if any of you knowledgable people in WA know if you have to pay school fees/medical fees if you come to the state on an employer sponsored visa?

I'm not sure on this one but you can email the education dept. Their website is Department of Education and Training and they should be able to advise you

We wondered the same thing a couple of months ago and em&m has a piece of paper from her agent about them she did send it me but i can't seem to find it.

This is some info though she sent me to do with it....

Hi, each state Education Dept has a different system when it comes to school fees - generally, the 457 visa holders do not have to pay the overseas student fees, however not many people know of this loop hole. I have attached a document showing this. you will need to ask to see the Education Dept document on which visa classes need to pay overseas student fees.

Hope this is of some help. She might still have it and be able to send it as I know she's started packing for her move

Dawn

Em if your reading this can you send it me again please

Thanks for replies, I think that you only have to pay school fees in NSW and ACT, although one thing I found stated that the company sponsoring you could pay them! I expect that knowing our luck, the only company willing to sponsor us will be in NSW and not pay the fees!

Hi there

We came on a sponsered visa and you do have to get Medibank which is private health but it is usually given back to you in wages via company. Also there are school fees to pay it was $5 per child unless obviously if you go private and they can range from $1000 to $12000 per year.

Hope this helps.
