Question How Does Your Garden Grow???

Hi All

In Shropshire today it has been a really nice day.. at last i have been able to get out in the garden mow the lawn and trim the lavender etc without getting rained on or freezing to death.... and it got me to thinking....

What sort of flowers, plants can i expect to have in my garden in Perth?
And, what are the garden centres like?... are there any?

Obviously the summer months will scorch alot of flowers etc but i expect in the winter there should be some bloom?

As garden lovers OH and i are looking forward to having a diversity of flowers and srubs etc and the odd gum tree... (which we have at the mo and palm as well).... so what else do we have to look forward to....

And oh yes... do roses fare well in Perth?.... I know you can get them in Melbourne.... I love a good rose!!!

Hi Min

I love my garden here too, its typically english - lawn, all sorts o flowers and shrubs - well it did have until they all got blasted by the rotten weather last weekend, like you, outside today cutting grass and tryin to rescue it all specially as house on market!

Gonna change completely in oz me thinks. Nice pool surrounded by deckin or nice paving or whatever and minimal plants. Cant bear the thought of what might hide in plants

I agree - I already know if I ever brave gardening there it'll be with big thick gloves on!!

I think heat-liking plants will be ok though - you can get underground tanks for rainwater so they should get plenty of watering and as long as they like the sun they'll be fine.

Yes i agree with the gloves as well!!!!!!!...........

But with regards the decking etc..yes a nice pool will go down a treat but if you look on the real estate sites areas which are the more 'mature' suburbs ... south of perth etc like where Ali is in leeming, show quite well established gardens!!!.... the houses there tend to have boar holes etc for watering etc... and of course we can always use the old water butt!!
