Rockingham

WOW !

Just looking at the houses in the Perth area and some look the business !, I quite like the area of Rockingham with its close proximity to all amenities and the Beach !:D

What is Rockingham like to live in and what is the local crime like ?, I have a vested interest in the crime patterns as I hope to come over as a Police Officer in the WA Police I also have two young children and would also like to know what the local schools are like.

Hi Jay,

I live about 10 mins drive just outside Rockingham in an area called Port Kennedy. We have only been here since the middle of December 06 and we love it.

The seafront in Rockingham is beautiful, the beaches are so clean and the people are really friendly. There is a big British population here so you feel at home practically immediately.

As for the crime - thankgoodness we have not had or heard of any problems, obviously you do have incidents that you read about in the local papers but its nothing like the UK!

Schools seem to be really good, but you may want to look at threads from other members as I can only speak for myself and our friends - we are all happy with the education so far my daughter loves it, and if she is happy so are we!

My daughter is 4 years old and is in Kindy but we did have to wait a while for a place to become available for her, perhaps if you have a school in mind you could place his / her name on the waiting list prior to arriving. Hope this helps and get in touch if you need anything else. Good Luck,

This only makes the decision to appy and get my family out to Aus even easier!, dont get me wrong I am a loyal Brit and have served my country in the Forces and the Police well but the whole package of Aus and Perth is so right for me and my small family. Glad you love it and like you say Rockingham seems to be a mini UK it will make it easier for us to adjust. Bring on the sunshine!!!!!

I've been living in Rockingham for just over a year now. My youngest went to Rockingham Beach primary school for just a year and loved it. From what I've heard it is a really good little school public school and not too big . i live on the palm beach estate which is a nice area, walking distance form the school and beach.
About the crime rate, i'm not sure, i read things in the paper, but no different to the uk. some people say the North of Perth has i higher crime rate.
