Gonna ask a stupid question!!

Please do not think I'm a total numpty for asking this but..........

Western Ausralia, Perth and surrounding areas, the habitable parts where most people live and work.............how big is it?

I live in Lancs and can be in Cornwall or Edinburgh within 6 hours by car, compared to that, what are the distances?

Is it a couple of hours from top to bottom, 6 hours? 12 hours? What is the distance in miles or km?

Thanks
Andrea (the numpty)
xx

G'day

Do you want to know how big Perth is or how big WA is?

As for the Perth metropolitan area, from Perth travelling north, suburbs like Quinns Rocks are about 55km or just under an hour away. To the south Singleton is about 65Km or 45mins. To the West, Freo is 20Km or half an hour, to the East Sawyers Valley is about 40k or 30 minuts away.

Nearby towns are Mandurah 1hr, Bunbury 2hrs, York 1hr, Northam 1hr, Albany 5hrs, Geraldton 6hrs, Kalgoorlie 7hrs, Esperance 8hrs, Adelaide 27hrs, Monkey Mia 11 hrs.

Cheers
Bob in Bull Creek

WA is quite a bit bigger, bigger than Europe in fact.

The UK and most of Europe would fit into WA, my son just sent off a postcard showing this and there was still space left over.

Broome is 2237 km and about 22 hours drive. It's also 4040 km to Darwin

Thanks everyone. So it's not that small then. With it being so 'isolated' I was worrying that if we wanted to take off for a few days there wouldn't be anywhere to go. I live in the North West of England so it would take a good couple of days to drive to Northern France. 5 or 6 hours to the ferry ports or channel tunnel, the crossing and then a few hours when we got there. If we go anywhere else, we fly anyway.
