      Older children

Hi - We are in the process of applying for a visa and have sort of settled on the idea that Western Australia would suit us best for weather, quality of life etc. The one thing that concerns me is that we have 3 children (if you can call them that) of 23, 21 and 15 and am worried that the older two might find there is not enough of a social scene for them. The reason I have thought this is that various posts say about it being too remote and not enough there etc. etc.
Can anyone help me on this subject and if the nightlife is good for that age group and what sort of areas.

      Thanks
      Nicky

      Hi Nicky

We are going to Perth and have older teenagers. The advice I've been given is not to go too far from the city if possible.

For us that probably means a smaller house than we'd like but I think it's probably our safest bet. If the kids can't get to clubs and bars easily then they're bound to get fed up and we all know what that means  .

Hi there, thanks for the reply. Since that last post we have changed our minds and decided to go over the other side, Queensland. We decided this as felt there were more opportunities for the sprogs, also the fact that we have now decided that all 3 will go to college and study (very costly). We went to the exhibition at Sandown and spoke to numerous people there and have decided not to try and do the 2 year WHV for the girls and then try and get them in some other way, instead if they study a subject that will give them the qualifications they need it will be simpler. We are going over for 3 weeks on 5th November to have a good look round and try and get a view of the Queensland side and then if needs be go again sometime later with the kids.
Will let you know how we get on.

      Nicky
