Hello

We have just got our visa grant and are looking to validate before November 2012 and as we are having a hard time finding a rental for a month or so with such short notice we thought of camping or a caravan for the validation trip has anyone done this or know if it is possible we dont even know if there are camp sites with static vans in perth can anyone advise if this is an option please.

Thanks

Dave & Carmel

Another vote for Karrinyup Waters - when we first arrived in Perth we stayed there, as we purchased a campervan for our travels around, and then stayed again when we popped back up to Perth about a month later - we stayed longer than we thought we would both times as it was lovely there. The people who run it are friendly, helpful and lovely, its the closest to Perth centre (for either driving or getting public transport - the bus is right outside the gates and its only a short ride to the train station, and a few minutes by train right into the centre) and also very close to the massive Karrinyup shopping centre, as well as a smaller shopping centre for groceries etc. The beach is just down the road after Karrinyup Shopping Centre, Trigg Beach, which is BEAUTIFUL, and Hillary's Boat Harbour is a short drive along the coast road (more shopping and restaurants basically, as well as the very good AQWA aquarium, worth a visit imho).

They were just building some new chalets when we were there a second time, back in March, so have more availability now hopefully, there's a nice pool and good other facilities from what we have seen at many many campsites/caravan parks now :)

Hope that helps and enjoy it there - we so miss it down there....

We were doing a blog on our website (link in my sig), which isn't as comprehensive as we wanted really as travelling out of a campervan takes up a lot more time than we thought (everything takes forever, including little things like going to the loo, having a drink or something to eat etc), but now we're in one place for a little bit (about 700km from Alice Springs/200km from Uluru in the middle of nowhere) working so we might have a bit of time to get it all sorted out - I think we are going to move the travels blog to its own site and update the info on moving down under on the Send Us Down Under website instead in the long term though - our life in Oz doesn't really fit well with the original point of the website, nor what it actually turned into, so think it would be best to have the two things separate.

We didn't put anything on here because to be completely honest, it was really hard to get online a lot of the time as we stayed in the middle of nowhere most of the time, and the internet drops out about 5-10km out of any town, so it was easier to put it on the blog as we could write it in Word or whatever and then upload it via an automatic programme thing (its all very technical and something my geek of a husband sorted out for us lol).

So the website looks pants at the moment, and only has a bit of our travels on it (including the lovely people of Carnavon, buts that's a whole other story lol), but will be sorted out at some point - if anyone is travelling in WA the blog posts relate to most of the state (we got around a bit!) so a scan through that gives our views on things etc - it starts here for our travels bit: http://sendusdownunder.com/blog/page/7/ and if you click 'newer entries' button it moves you through in chronological order to our newest adventures....

Eventually the new site will be a lot more user friendly, with a map for quick reference and more pictures etc than we have been able to upload, as well as the places we visited that we didn't get around to blogging about at all.....

Karrinyup really is fab though OP, we've been to many, many caravan parks now, and I still think its very nearly, if not is, the best one we've been to :)
