Leaving UK 3rd November

Hi everyone.

We have been viewing this site for the last few months but as yet not written our first post. So here goes! I suspect once we have got the first one out the way more will follow!

We are leaving the UK late on 3rd November with Singapore Airlines and heading for the Gold Coast on a 457. Having read a number of threads it appears quite a few families are leaving in November so if anyone wants to make contact before they leave please do as this will immediately give us something in common and we can look out for each other in the first few months of settling in.

Havent decided on a suburb to live in yet but have narrowed it down to 6 or 7 which we will view when we get there. Our first month will be spent at a Villa at Hope Island getting use to the surrounding. Also have 3 children 10, 7 & 3 to find schools for and our relocation agent is already on the case.

So it would be great to hear from anyone else leaving early November and perhaps we can all get together in the first few weeks not only to make friends but also to see how everyone has been getting on with their new lives.

We have decided with the housing market the way it is just to leave the house for a year or so to see how we get on with Oz. As my hubby will have to fly back two or three times a year we have got return tickets to fly back with him in July. Hopefully by then we would have made a decision on our long term future as we don’t really want to uproot the kids again (we did this 3 years ago when we moved from Herts to Lincs). If it all works out we can then plan the permanent visa route.

I have also seen someone mention darts! If there are any ladies out there wanting to start a darts team I would definitely be up for it. This is one thing I shall definitely miss so I shall be making big noises about this on the forum once we arrive.

That’s me for now. If anyone wants to say hello please do or if there are any families leaving on or around the 3rd it would be great to hear from you.

Whereabouts you heading for? Any kids? The bar sounds a very good idea. We will certainly need a few drinks with 3 kids in tow.

Just wanted to say good luck, and I am sooooooooooo jealous!!! We submitted our Visa on the 11th April and still waiting for a CO !!

So it will be a while yet before we are booking the dream tickets. Hope it all goes well!

Hi there,
We're heading to Redcliffe, half an hour North of Brisbane airport. We have kids but they're a bit older than yours (Liam 18 and Grace 15). We'll keep an eye out for you.
