help and advice desperatley needed!!

hiya guys,

This is going to be like war and peace ( but please keep reading!!) My husband and i have decided that we want to to do the BIG MOVE to OZ. We have a 1yr old and a 2month old, i am currently in the Royal Navy Police and my huband is an asbestos consultant, health and saftey risk assessor. I have 2 more years to do in the service beofre ive done my 12 years. Ideally we want to go to Brisbane, but just outside is fine.

We are seriously begining to panic, we just dont have a clue, where to start, how to get the ball rolling and when to start!!

Will my hubby be able to get a job out there? ideally we need to have a job to go to before we make the move.

how do you find accom before you go out?

what is the cost of living like, is it expensive?

if he gets a sponsored visa, will i be able to go out there too? or will we have to wait till he gets automatic residency after 2 years for me and the babies to go out?

All i have ever known is the armed forces, so im not really qualified in anything else, however the navy do pay for me to retrain in something else, so choosing a new career isnt that daunting, i was thinking of child minding? God knows we pay the earth for it over here!!!

Please could someone take the time and try and help us as much as possible.

Have you thought about transfering to the aussie navy??????????? I say that coz my husband is in the process of trying to transfer to aussie army (ADF) and if that goes through we will get there wit a nice little package. Look at the ADF website to see if you are eligible.........just an idea

Hiya welcome to poms in oz . You sound so stressed ,lol, it is confusing but the more time you spend on here ,the more it all falls into place.
Id say your first stop would be to contact an agent for some advice ,there are a few good ones out there ,some regually mentioned on here are Go Matilda and Visa Bureau ,i think both would be able to help you with reliable infomation. The visa process can take up to 12 months ,sometimes longer ,skills recognisions can also take ages to prepare ,so i would get the ball rolling as soon as you can and it should tie in with you finishing in 2 years.
If your hubby does get a sponsership you can be included on his application as his spouse.
Child care is expensive here too ,and they also seem despertae for staff so that may well be a good career path youve thought of .
For arrival accommodation there are lots of options,hotels/motels, caravan parks or company's like myself who have furnished homes and can also help with all the boring jobs you have to do on arrival to the country.
