New to this site and lived in Oz for 2 years

Hi all

Don't know why it's taken this long to look for a site for ex pat Brits, but here we are. Mandy and Peter living in Geelong, Vic with 2 kittens from the local animal welfare centre. We love Australia but have had problems in making new friends. We had a large social circle in England and are easy going young at heart (46 and 52 years old) people who like eating out, good Aussie wine, bbqs, ten pin bowling, quiz nights - nothing too strenuous! Would appreciate any suggestions on gaining a social life. We both work full time (me in admin for local council and Peter as an interstate truckie). Look forward to getting to know you (virtually at least).

Hi welcome to PIO, you will probably get to know lots of us soon enough, this is a fun site and very addictive, quite a few people live in VIC, so you should get someone along pretty soon I would say!

Welcome to PIO...yes Aussies are a hard nut to crack which I honestly think is down to us living in the UK and having a greater sense of humour ....we honestly just seem so much more“streetwise” compared to the average aussie….any Brit clubs in your area?

Hiya welcome to poms in oz,i think the friendship circle is one of the things we all miss at some point,it is hard but put yourself out there as much as you can and take up every invite you can squeeze in ,if the 'inviters' arent exactly your cup of tea ,they may have friends who are.
Also remember we are always here ,you dont have to just talk aussie, lol, we have sections for general chat, moans etc ,someone will always try to help,,

Hi

Thanks all for the welcome. Haven't been able to find any Brit clubs locally - even in Melbourne.

gary12 will become famous soon enough
TomandMillie

Hi, we were out in Geelong earlier this year and hope to move out near Warrandyte early next year. However, back to the question in hand, there seem to be alot of PIO'zzers in Geelong look at this thread http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/victor...1-geelong.html I am sure the people who have posted won't mind you contacting them. There is also the Victoria social group that may have people near you PomsInOz Forum - Victoria you never know there might be someone really close to where you are,

best wishes

Michelle
