Well hello... just thought I'd introduce myself (finally...phew) and bore... sorry... tell you a little about my situation.
My name is Mark, I'm 36, married with two lovely children (Antony 5, and Sophie 2) and am desperate to emigrate to Oz; we all are. I'm working as a optical glazing technician in a local Opticians but I fall short meeting the full criteria as outlined in the immi dot org sites PDF file of accepted vocations as some things we don't cover (it's a rather broad field).
I'm also a qualified Pharmacy Technician but not a Pharmacist (I have a BTEC National Diploma and not a degree) so no joy there either I guess. Which is why I am currently seeking to train and qualify as an electrician (17th edition). This way is a little pricey and requires a job change so I can get experience so I was wondering what you guys thought of my chances before I even get underway.
I'm not after specifics (those pleas for help about where to go to get the ball rolling will come soon enough, hee hee) but hoped someone here might be able to steer me as I'm a little bewildered and directionless at the mo.
My wife and I set a plan 8 years ago to move to Oz after we started our family and, after a couple of delays in the itinerary due to sad family matters, we are now raring to go, which is why I'm here.
It's been a pleasure posting what I hope will be the first of many...
Great name and welcome to PIO. We're just down the road from you in Cardiff and there's loads of us hoping to meet up at some point down here, everyone welcome and and more the merrier!

Well pleased to meet you all and thanks for the warm and helpful posts. Yes I'm in Newport... we moved a couple of yrs ago from Pontypool (well, Pontnewynydd actually;) ). My wife Kelly is originally from Weymouth and that's where we were before making the move to Wales, although my history is a lot more complicated as I'm an Army Brat and have moved around.
Oh and as for the callsign... I love squirrels and astronomy :)

unless you study in oz as a student depends on your finacial situation as you can only work a limited number of hours not enough to live on.
