Hi Claire

We have been to Joondalup - its one of the areas that we will consider once we get there in November.

For me, reading your thread is kind of reassuring to hear that everybody goes through the same wave of emotions.

Like other people have said - life is too short and to spend it wondering what if. Life should be an adventure and if we are given the opportunity to try something new, we should. I just want to give it my best shot and never have any regrets.

It will be hard telling your Mum, but she may surprise you in the way she reacts. Like CalnGary said there is msn, skype and text messaging - Oz may be many miles away, but with todays technology of instant communication - its only around the corner, plus there are always holidays to look forward to.

Karen xx

Hi Claire and welcome to PIO.

Perth is a great place to live, it's sunny 9 months of the year. It's got great beaches, cafes and restaurants and a very laid back lifestyle. It's not always enjoyed by aussies who live in other parts of australia as the shops don't open on Sundays and it's not as hectic as the rest of oz.

Home is what you make it. I would recommend Perth to anybody but you do have to work at it. Nobody can deny that they miss family and i honestly think that most people go back 'home' every 1-2 years primarily to visit their loved ones ......... and Marks and Spencer food!

Make the move is my advice......you'll love it, but it does take around 2 years to really settle in.

Ian

Hi Claire,

Best of luck with everything.

From reading countless threads on here over the past few weeks it seems that until you head over there you can never know if it's the right thing or not for you to do. People will always be biased according to their own experiences (or indeed expectations); you really have to experience it yourself.

Some people have the dream for many years, then when they move over they realise it's not what they want and set their sights on returning, others realise it is what they want and stay for as long as they desire.

I'd say go for it with everything you've got, but do keep ties here, so that if for whatever reason you do decide you want to return then that option is still available for you.

Hi

I'm only just in Cornwall, only 15 miles from Plymouth in a little village called Metherell.
