Any families moving to Perth/Rockingham areas Sept/Oct
Hi there new to Expats and was wondering if any families are moving out to Perth late sept or early oct. We live in the Worcestershire area and it would be great to here from anyone in the same boat who is moving over at roughly the same time.
Hi There
We hope to go to Perth or close by but not for at least 18 months. Rockingham is quite an industrial town and didnt do it for us but there are loads of places near by that we liked a lot... Mundarah, further south Bunbury or even further south Busselton.
We are a from a ethnic minority..... we are both Welsh!!

Hi there, we too are in Worcestershire but hopefully going to Melbourne if we ever sell the house.
Also waiting for visa's too. We hope to be going over if all goes to plan, the end of October at the very latest?
if you don't like Rockingham, why do you like Mandurah ? it used to be a sleepy fishing village and is now the city from hell. Huge amounts of construction and mozzies all day long. We avoid it at all costs. If you want peace and quiet forget it, ditto bunbury, busselton etc. they're all developing like crazy. Most Brits now either move north of Perth or Rockingham.
Hi there, we are off to Perth on the 2nd November. We are going to the Northern Suburbs, Mullaloo, Ocean Reef, may even consider as far up as Jindalee.
Hopefully my 18 year old son will come to his senses and stay out there - he has said he will come to activate his visa, but wants to come back to be with his girlfriend (but we have also said she could get a working holiday visa and come too). However at 18 I have to understand that he can chose what he wants to do.
I envy you with such a young family making this move in order to give them a much better start. I've not got rose coloured glasses, I totally appreciate that things are much the same in Oz as here, however I believe the lifestyle is better suited to family life.

Good luck with everything and keep in touch.
Karen, Mick and Lewis.
Hi Karen
I was 18 when my parents moved to Perth and i was the same as your son not wanting to leave friends etc but now i am 33 and boy do i regeret it!!. I thought it would be so easy just to apply for a visa and go when ever i wanted but it is far from easy and very expensive.
I hope your son makes the most of this golden opportunity and you all have a great life down under!!

Me & OH will hopefully be in Perth May 09 and will be staying in Cottesloe.
The bit that is so frustrating is he has been 5 times to Perth and really loves it. He says he will come on the 2 November to activate his visa - so that's the good bit at least he will not miss out on the opportunity totally. I just hope that he comes to his senses very soon, we only have a temporary visa so he will need to stay out there for at least two years if he is to get his permanent residency. We have always said the best position to be in is to have his residency/citizenship and in the future he will be able to chose where he wants to live without going through all the cost and frustrations we have - but I have to remember, he is 18 and therefore can decide what he wants to do.
We are taking our other family friends albeit they are the four legged variety, two dogs and a cat, they will be happy anywhere as long as they get fed. I'm so looking forward to walks along the beach with the dogs.
We like Cottesloe, we wanted to have our wedding reception in the Tea Rooms, but unfortunately it was booked on the day so went to Hilary's instead.
Thank you again for your response, its good to hear from other people and their experiences. It makes me believe that I'm not just a Mum who doesn't want to break the apron strings - I just want him to have the best opportunities in life.
