I'm Liv (29), and myself and my aussie boyfriend Matt (34) have been working towards applying for the de facto visa for almost a year now! Up until now we have struggled to find the infomation we needed; we want to make sure we get the application right first time, and that we do it in such a way that we get it back asap.
This site has been an absolute godsend, and I know I will be using it as often as possible! It's really nice to hear from other people going through the same process.

try contacting australia house in london its 1 pound a minute but they will tell you everything you need to know in 5 minutes that is what we did and it was the best 5 pound we spent.

I just gone through the same thing you are both going through
You need to provide the Australian embassy proof of your realationship, Such as proof of living to gether, Photos together, Any bills you have with joint names on Stats declartions from friends saying that you are in a realationship and any thing else which is realite. The immgration website has a check list of what they are looking for. Mine took 4 weeks to be approved but took myself and my finace a month to prepare. You will need to obtain Police checks from the the POlice for every POlice area you lived in for example i lived in the thames valley and cambridgeshire areas so i had to get 2 copy which will cost you 10pound each and can take up to 40 days if like me you have a common name you may be asked my Scotland yard to provide proof of you r idenity if that is the case i would advise you to fax it through to London but that only if they ask. On the imgration website it will give you a list of approved doctors which have been approved my the australian embassy for there medicals mine cost me 196.00 remeber to tell them they need to send it to london and not sydney as they will charge you for the international post. It wont be long Sam&Si and your will be the same lol If I have a day of work for housework I find myself with my computer on hoovering then peeping at my screen and replying to something, nothing gets done these days. I have also been know to burn a saucepan and a few dinners have been over cooked !
