Smile Just starting out...Rather in awe of all the information!

Hi there,

I have wanted to move to Australia for quite a while, and just never really looked into it; was just a dream.. However my boyfriend is at RAF Northolt working as a fireman, and he has just asked whether he could get a transfer to Australia. As i am an account exectutive in a marketing company, i don't believe i can get many/if any points, so this looks like our only way in. The only problem is my boyfriend would have to take a£6000 pay cut.
So... here is my question, is there somewhere where i can compare the cost of living..?
We are both young - I'm 22 and my bf is 27, and we have over £40,000 savings between us.
I apologise for the long post, there are just so many questions!

p.s hello to everyone, this is a great site

Hi Gemma,

I think what i have heard and researched myself seems to be that Aus is on a parr with England in terms of cost of living , varying slightly on state to state .
Housing again , is comparable dependant on area and state. But you can be looking at around $400-500 for a basic family house out of the city.
Do remember - interest rates are at %9 and other taxes vary slightly .

In terms of visa advice , contact an agent or visist the goverment web site for some advice to consider your options . Agents offer a free consultation to access your position.

Best of luck Gemma.

I'm not yet there, but from what I've read the cost of living in Australia is about the same as other here all things considered.
