Moving to Melbourne

Hiya,
i am a 29 yeasr old currently living in Liverpool England. While travelling my wife fell in love with Melbourne and we are now considering moving there. She was born in Australia so we wouldn't have any problems getting a Visa. Anyway i am a Prison officer so i would need to live in the area west of the cbd,Altona,Yarraville, williamstown. Does anyone one have any knowledge of these areas?? I would like there to be shopping a few bars and restaurants with in easy reach nothing too crazy though. Outdoor life is very important so parks and cycling is also a must. Anyway sorry about all the questions hope you can help.

Morning I do not live in the areas you mention but they are all close to the CBD and therefore you would have access to all it has to offer. There are a lot of bike paths in Melbourne and you should have a look at Bicycle Victoria web site for information
Bicycle Victoria

My husband is a keen and we belong to Bicycle Victoria.

For weekends you would be able to access the beaches Jan Juc Bells Torquay from living over that side and they are very popular.

Williamstown is lovely but pricey have a look at Realestate.com.au for the areas you are interested in and Google Earth to see what they are like.

Good luck
