G'day all - any new migrants to Perth

Hello everyone,

will be moving to perth next week.

been browsing jobs for accountants, a bit taken back bcos most of them all seek prior working experience in Australia.

Wonder how other migrants manage to get jobs here..can anyone share their experience or give some advise please..

take care

Hi there, Sorry i don't know much about accountacy , but do they perhaps have different ways of doing things .Sorry for sounding dumb
I think i would apply anyway , just keep on banging out your CVs to agencies , employers , any ave you can. Don't be disheartned by how many you have to put out before you get a bite.
Get th eAus yellow pages and apply to as many big firms as you can where you think your skills are needed as well . This can often be a way of finding a position.Employers like pro-active people. Follow up your CV with a call to show how keen you are . Remember , you are selling yourself - so just keep at it.
I'm sure you'll come up trumps . If not ask the agencies if they have any ideas how you can get the experience needed.
You could suggest a few days trial to show them how good you are and that you are capable of adapting to Aus Accounts ?
In fact i think i would be tempted to include this is my covering letter to employers agencies.
Maybe you can do some Freelance work ? That would then be deemed as experience.

Good luck , don't worry i'm sure you'll find work.
