Should we rather use migration agents???

Can anyone teel me if one should rather use migration agents or do all the documentation ourselves? And if so can anyone give an idea what the costs are towards that?

Thanx
Alet

Hi

The advice everyone gives on here is that if your situation is straight forward and you are good with paperwork, then you should be ok to go it alone. If youre not that confident then its best to go with an agent. We have signed with Thinking Australia and their fee is £1850 and then you have your visa, skills assessments, medicals and police checks on top of that. We were going to do it ourselves but we have special circumstances so signed with the agent to be on the safe side. Go Matilda are recommended alot here aswell but dont know what their fees are. Most agents offer a free chat on the phone so you could always get some advice and decide whats best for yourself from there.

Best of luck with it all!

I'd agree the post above. I got my skilled independant on my own and saved a packet on the fees.

we used an agent and if i turned the clock back id still do the same ,i couldnt bear having my application refused or returned because id done something wrong or not provided enough info,,just having that extra pair of eyes was the key for me,

We used an agent because we didn't have the time to look things up ourselves, i would rather someone tell me what to do, this way i gathered all the relevant information together and i felt confident that it would be acceptable. Hope you go on ok whether you decide to go it alone or use an agent
Best wishes

ok, we used an agent (george lombard) cost was about £2.4k plus £900 for meds for 4 of us.
we used an agent because my skills are quite speciallised and i needed assistance to pass the TRA. which i might add i nearly failed because the chap at the TRA missed a vital document in my submission pack and my agent asked him to recheck,(before the pack was sent back) and guess what,......... they found the said doc and passed me! phew.
so as has been said above if you have a skill in demand and have all your proof, go ahead and try yourself if you fill confident to do so and want to save a few grand.
its all down to the individual and for us £2k for a new life was worth every penny and no regrets.
all the best, which ever way you choose
mark.

Agree, that if your application is straight forward then do it yourself - otherwise an agent (I should say good agent), is worth their weight in gold. Go Matilda and Visa Bureau get mentioned quite a bit (not heard anything bad about either).

I am good with paperwork (20 years in admin!) but the TRA forms and References are something else! We are using Go Matilda and so far they are really good. Still in the early stages but certainly no regrets yet! If its a cost issue I would rather make saving elsewhere, lets be truthful if we dont get the visa we aint going nowhere!

We were unsuccessful when we applied to TRA first time round then we had to submit more information to them and then we passed. We used Go-Matilda all the way through our application and i don't think we would be at this stage if it wasn't for them.
Good luck
