Hello everyone I am not a new citizen of Aus we have been here for 30 years now gosh where has all the time gone. I lived all over the world with my parents when we left the UK and married a geordie and went back to UK to live. However we did not stay very long as my husband wanted to live here so we came back.
I like going to UK and seeing the relatives and they come over to see us and his brother lives in NZ so we are spread wide.
Its hard without family but now email, skype all that stuff is around I probably contact family as much as I would if I was living in UK.
I have lived in Sydney and Melbourne and now reside on the Mornington Peninsula where I have lived for the last 20 years on a large block of land and we love it. Different suburbs around Melbourne attract different nationalities and the Mornington Peninsula, Frankston, Langwarrin and Knox have a lot of brits living there. If I go over to the Kariingal Shopping centre I think I am in UK sometimes.
Migration is a big step and there will be lots of things people do not like but then that is the same if you just move to the next town as we get used to familar things. However its surprising how familiar things become. Australians are friendly people, some are blunt and have a slightly different sense of humour which offends some people but what you see is what you get. No malice though.
If anyone needs any info about Melbourne I will give a hand as now I am retired I have lots of time to do that
