Need help lot's of it for many questions that need answers... ie where is best employment at present, education and medical system like. We are a large family of 3 generations of mixed irish/english decent. We really have not a clue about where to start who to ask etc etc. We would love to hear from other familys who have made the jump and hear how life in oz has been for them.

Hiya welcome to poms in oz ,im sureif you have a good read through this forum you will find the answer to many of your questions ,if not just ask us all,,What part of Australia are you looking to move too ,as different trades can be in demand in different areas, what jobs do you currently do? and what job would you looking to apply with?a good job site is SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site . we used an agent to help us ,cost a few quid but money well spent when you havnt a clue whats what..They explained which visa type was best for hubbys skills and helped us with the trades recognition etc.The DIMIA website would also be a good starting point for you,it explains much better than i can about the different visa types and other migration infomation,,good luck with everything ,

The Australian embassy was a great help to me as i recently moved to Queensland to marry my Aussie Girlfriend they can help you with the jargon also look out for seminars regarding moving to oz i attended 2 in london before i moved here. Been in oz for over 2 weeks loving it.
the only problem im finding with companys out here is that companies are not happy that im on a prospect marriage visa and getting perment work not as easy as i been told from seminars i attend in london that the frustating part and coming from a finance background is frustating

Its not easy to get permanent work straight away regardless of visa ,employers seem to want to take you on casual until youve prooven yourself. We have found most people get wage rises and made permanant within a few weeks ,just make yourself indispensible in the first few weeks and you should do ok.

Also do loads of research on the internet! The WWW is great for Aussie info! Look up all the states. Make a list of what you want from your move and then research away til you find it! For brissie there is Home | ourbrisbane.com - that will give you history of the Brissie suburbs as well as well as loads of Brisbane information!
Also loads of agents do free consultations, could be worth having a chat there. My parents using Go Matilda who have been great!
Hi Pamanna, welcome aboard. If you're still keen on Oz after doing your research online, I would highly recommend also coming out on a visit, to really be able to get a feel for the place. Good luck!
