      Newbie Confused...

      Hi Everyone.

I am 23 and just about to start my final year in my Law degree LLB. My fiance and I have recently decided that we'd like to get out of the sinking ship that is the UK. And we have settled on Australian emigration.
My father who lives with his Australian girlfriend lives in Perth and this is where we'd like to go too.
We are all a little confused as to which grounds/visa we can get there on.
I think I'm going to take a one year Masters in Professional Accounting before we go and my partner would like to start training in a trade of some sort, probably stone masonry, as that's what my dad does.
However we are miffed at what category we fall into, my degree in law i think makes me skilled but it's not one of the desperately needed skills in Australia so don't know if that will get me in, and my fella won't have as much on site experience as he needs to qualify for the skills visa.
And I'm also not a child so unsure if my father could actually help me as a sponsor.

I'm thinking that I'll finish my degree or Masters then apply for a graduate accounting position in Australia and try to get in that way with an employee sponsorship.

      What does anyone think???

Thanks anyone who's got any suggestions.

Hiya i would speak with a migration agent ,even if its only for a ponit in the right direction, there are so many different visa types ,each carrying different restrictions etc ,much too confusing for me,lol, for most of the visa's you also require 4 yrs + post qualification training ,or a certain number of hours working in that trade,,sorry i cant help more but as i say its all weigh over my head!!

If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place...
If you get a chance, take it, If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy they just said it would be worth it...

As posted above a skilled visa is probably unlikely as you are so young and don't have much/any working experience using your chosen profession.
If your father is an Oz citizen / PR you may have the option of going down the family sponsorship route even though you aren't a child.

Check out the immi.gov.au website for the various types of visa and see which one you may be able to qualify under. There are also student visas if you chose to do your masters course in Oz.

      Lightbulb Perhaps a possibility

Okay I've found some good stuff, finally, that I think can get us sorted. One of two ways, I could do my post grad degree here, while my fiance trains in Masonry over here then we both get job offers over there. Or I could do my post grad over in Perth, while my fiance begins training during my last year as an undergrad here in masonry, then gets a visa in subclass 442 which allows him to train in Australia and then when that's complete apply for a working visa or permanent residency based on his needed skill. I could also apply for working visa based on the Professional Accounting degree. Feel free to replace 'accounting degree' with whatever other degree might be suitable. I've got about 4 months to decide which one I want to do, to enrol anyway.

My dad's a stone mason over in Perth and might be able to guide my fiance into a placement or something.

However I'll have to carry on looking into this as I'm sure there'll be some hole in it that will put me right back to square one lol. Who's brilliant idea were visas anyway???
