kent to queensland

just starting our process, waiting to hear about a job in queensland before we apply for visas/sell house (our timing is great!). So much to do, but we feel until we know exactly where we're going, everything is at a standstill! is this normal? or are there a million and one things we could be doing?! any tips gratefully received!!

Hi Kell&mart
Just to say hello, have you actually started the visa application yet or are you waiting on this job ?
Yes there are a million & one things you could be doing, but guess that depends on how you feel in yourselves and it may be eaiser once you know more about your job in Queensland.
Where abouts in Kent are you ??
All the best

thanks for replying Stuju!! we have'nt applied for a visa yet, i suppose we are waiting to hear where job will be. we live in Dartford at the moment, which if you don't know the area, is not one of places you could say 'oh yes, i now know why kent is called the garden of England'!!! The neighbours are nice, we have a lovely little house, but its not enough!! Dartford does not feel like home and if i'm honest, i'm a bit scared of the whole yob culture going on. Anyway, enough of serious stuff, are you living the dream? do you know Kent very well and how does Aussie life compare??

Hi!

We too are Kent. In Hildenborough near Tonbridge to be precise. And I have to say it is lovely round this way. But even in my short lifetime it's changing fast. But I suppose that's modern life!

We too are going to Queensland. The Gold Coast to be precise. My brother moved there a year ago with his young family and are (at present) definitely not planning on coming back. They love it! We may not feel the same after a while but until we go we'll never know.

It's forever growing there. So loads of jobs in most areas. Especially construction at the moment with all the new buildings.

Anyway, we are at the start of the process. Just getting info together to (hopefully) receive an AQF3 certificate and then apply to the TRA on Pathway E.

What are you occupations? Do you have any idea roughly where in QD you may be going?

Good luck!
Kate

Hi Kell & Mart

I have family in Dartford and we came from Gravesend, just next door.
So far i think moving to Australia has been the best thing for our family, my kids 3 and 6 are enjoying themselves so much we are always out, back in England they were always stuck in front of the Tv most of the time.

we're going to either Brisbane or Gold Coast. Mart is an occupational therapist, and those are the locations in Queensland that have come up. I work at John lewis, so hopefully i'll get a part-time job once we're settled (we have a 3 year & 1 year old ).theres no relatives or friends to help us with child care once we get there, so i'll be a housewife!!!Its good to know that not too many miles away in Hildenborough someone else is going through this experience!!
We wish you luck too!
