Hi Lesley
Welcome to Poms in Oz.
I've just been through your earlier posts and now, seeing this new thread, I don't think you are doing yourself any favours by not at least having a chat with a Migration Agent.
Go Matilda are one of the best and most well-known firms of Agents around and they are within spitting distance of both thee & me! I'm in Hedge End - where are you, please?
Go Matilda are near Southampton Airport. Please see here:
Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - Contact and Feedback
You have muttered about a Business Skills visa - I assume you mean a subclass 163 visa? It can be tricky to prove eveything needed for that and you would do better to obtain professional advice if you decide to pursue this possibility.
For the moment you are considering a subclass 175 visa to judge from this thead.
Do not consign yourselves to the Pool at this stage. If you are 10 points short there may well be a way round it, but a sensible first step would be to ask Go Matilda to calculate your points for you because they might get a different total.
I can't even begin to help, nor can anyone else on here, without more information from you, please. As follows:
1. Which of you will be the main visa applicant and how old is he/she?
2. What does the prospective main applicant do and is it certain that s/he would pass the skills test for the relevant skill?
2. Does the secondary applicant have a skill which could be assessed voluntarily in order to score extra points? If so, how old is the secondary applicant?
4. Have you considered sitting the IELTS in order to seek 10 extra points?
5. Have you investigated whether the main applicant would be eligible for State Sponsorship for the subclass 176 visa instead? (If so, you would only need 100 points.)
6> Do you have any relatives in Australia who could sponsor your application? (100 points, as above.)
I strongly recommend that you don't try to do this by yourselves at this stage. Go Mailda would not charge you for 10-15 minutes on the phone, and they could cover a LOT of ground with you in that short time. Have a proper chat with them before you try to make a decision about whether to use an Agent or not, I suggest, because if you are short of points then the whole thing could become too complex for you to be able to make a decent fist of it on your own.
Best wishes
Gill
