Hi All

Thought I would introduce myself, say hello and get any advice that may be offerd.
Having been reading all the other post for a while now and thought I would ask for your advice.

My OH and I have been talking about going to Aus on and off for the last year, and are set to start the process. I have picked agent as OH is brickie so Vetessa is needed, as he is over 43 he is thinking of sitting the English Exam to get an extra 5 points so we can go anywere and not tied to a state. Though from what I am reading Melbourne seems the place to go. Have a 14 year old that will start her GCSE next year so by the time we get visa and she finishes them in June 2010, we will have visa sorted and be set to go.
Also 9 year old will just have finished primary school, so good time for her to move. However OH will be 45 by then, but I assume that we just have to make sure that we apply for visa before he is 45, and not be in country by then.

So assuming we get visa and pass meds can anyone see any gapping holes in my plans.

Gratefull for any advice

As long as your Husband is not 45 before the Visa Application is sent in you are fine.

Welcome to pio! You should be fine providing you apply for your visa before hubby is 45 s that is the cut off age

Question for Jo, my OH is a brickie too, we are at the early stages (contract emailed to agent yesterday). We had originally thought about going to Perth, but would appreciate your comments on the gold coast, and work prospects for brickies.

Has anyone ever just gone over and found a job and got sponserd? I would imagine bricklaying isn't really the type of work that attracts many sponsers, but am I wrong?

Hi Michelle, there's a bit of work around, shouldn't find it too difficult to get a start, but more available near Brisbane really. There are a few jobs in the paper each job day (wed, sat), but more northside of Brisbane at the minute.
