We are! That is me, hubbie and two kids aged 2 and 5 years. We are going out on a 457 visa. Just wanting to be reassured that we are not the only ones making this HUGE step!

John and I are going to arrive in Sydney in august, so we will deffo meet up for a cuppa sometime soon after that Jo! ..... and the more the merrier Yvette! .... Oz doesnt seem as scarey a place when we think we will "know" people before we get there!
Its a beautiful country full of friendly people in my opinion ..... so I am almost counting weeks till we actually get there. I have been clearing out cupboards and even I am sick of hearing me say DONT use that one ... its for Oz!

Me and the other half are heading out in August/September. Going out on the 138 permanent residency visa as my brother is an Australian citizen. He lives in Adelaide but we're heading to Sydney as we think it will be easier to get work there.
So far, no jobs, no clue as to where to live... very scary but very exciting!
Would be lovely to meet up! My other half is going out to work for an international construction/property company. I'm a student nurse, having a break from my studies, whilst me and the kiddies settle.
It is reassuring to know that we all feel the same and how lovely to meet some new friends.

We hope to land in September! We are heading for the Central Coast, which is about an hour or so from Sydney. I am a Social Worker, hoping to find something interesting & part-time when we land, OH is an accountant and 2 girls aged 5 and 4 years.

dito, dito and dito! I was beginning to think we were the only ones heading to Sydney!
We're going on the 138, OH's brother lives in QLD and has sponserd us.
We are hoping to sign on a furnished rental this week in St Ives, around Chatswood/Hornsby.
We fly out on the 27th June, me, OH and the four 'billy-lids', 11, 9, 5 and 2. Not looking forward to the airport, 120kg of luggage and four children, might have a few glasses of wine first!

Hi Jo and Martin, we are going out on a 457 visa, hoping to go July time to Sydney. I have a job 10 mins from the harbour bridge so hope to be living not so far away from there. Have you got your visa yet? I am still waiting for mine and having a nightmare!!! I am waiting for my registration to come through then I think the visa will be shortly after that, I am hoping anyway!!! I am wanting to get on and book flights etc. It will be great to meet up when we get out there, I have 2 boys age 9 and 11, oh and of course the OH - Tracy
Yes, we have our visa - only last week though! Miraculously it came through in 8 days and I have no idea why it was so quick as it seems to vary from one person to the next. Because we were told it wouldn't come through until end of July, we have set everything up to leave in August, so we won't be going any earlier and flights are booked for 4th August.
Are you a nurse - it's just that you mentioned about registration? I'm half way through my DIpHE in Child Nursing and my university have agreed that I can take a two year break and finish it if we return in two years. However, if we decide to stay I will then look into applying to a university in NSW and start from scratch again. It's a real shame, but the australian job offer for my husband was just too good an opportunity to turn down and life can be full of suprises I suppose!

I`m hope to go over in July to sydney, also on a 457, my visa application went in 3 weeks ago. I`m going over on my own so it would be nice to know if there are other people in the same boat
