perth is fab but nothing like london. what are your occupations? Depends what you want from life? Do you like London? Are you after something completely different? Your ages? We are in our 40s ish lol Perth is beautiful but it all depends on what you want.

We are both 27 and our little boy is 19 months. We wanted a better life for all 3 of us as the crime and drugs over here is getting worse and didnt want Harry to grow up around that. We are quite convinced about coming just im a little scared being so far away from family! I am a legal secretary and Buster my fiance is a roofer. I dont want to work if I move out!!!!

Hi Janeymac

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

How old are you and your boyfriend respectively, and what skill and work-experience do you intend to reply in in order to apply for migration to Oz, please?

There is quite a stiff selection process to go through if you want to migrate on the basis of skills and I am not sure whether you are aware, as yet, of how complex and expensive it can all be?

If you have not yet had a good look at the DIAC website, please see the following links and then please sing out with any questions that you might have:

Department of Immigration and Citizenship

Information Booklets - Applications & Forms - Visas & Immigration

I'm in the UK. My sister is married to an Aussie and has lived in Perth for many years. I've been there for short visits but I don't know Perth at all well, so I will leave this part of your question for someone else to answer if I may.

Best wishes

Gill

Crime and drugs exist in oz but its not as obvious. Being away from family is not easy but you have to decide what is best for you? We find the quality of life better here but oz is not for everyone? Jobs are abundant, depending on your profession. I am a nurse and am well paid for my job but OH has taken a big cut in wages over here, former steelworker in uk for 32 years. Money helps but is not everything. If you like sunshine, beaches, a more relaxed lifestyle then you may be happy here? Good Luck!
