Well this is my first post just to say hi and tell you what im all about...
Currently living in Doncaster UK working as an electrician but hopefully definetley wanting to move to Austrailia next October after my wedding.
We were pretty certain Perth would be the perfect place until we spoke to our friend who lives in Cairnes,she says its nice but to isolated being on the west and that we would be better in Queensland or NSW..

I think it depends on what you want as to where you go and will be happiest. I think a lot of people say Perth is isolated but if you speak to people who live in Perth with their family, they'll say they love it and that there's loads to do. When you look at a map Perth does look a long way from anywhere (which it is) but it's a big place with lots of suburbs and areas surrounding it.

What exactly are you looking for? Do you have children?

Perth is a lovely place we spent a few weeks in freemantle some years ago. To be fair it is isolated but what a place to be isolated in. Syydney has lots to offer but is hectic and expensive so why no consider nothern NSW or QLD ?

We absolutley fell in love with Perth but havent been any where else in Oz so cant really comment but hoping to go to all the other places for our holidays....

thanks for the advice everyone...
In my head what I am really looking for is somewhere fairly quietish,within 2-5 miles from coast,a place with a pool,(I was under the impression that most houses had pools but after searching the web i was wrong)
We will only be looking at renting at first and will have about £15-20000 in savings but we are not taking anything with us like furniture etc..
Also a few questions you may be able to help us with

Is it true it gets dark in Perth at 6pm all year...
I am a domestic electrician but the only thing that is worrying me about workin in oz is what lives in peoples lofts like Dangerous spiders,snakes etc..How do they work round them?

Ps no children just me and the Mrs

Hi Welcome to PIO

I thought that Perth got dark later than that in their Summer but not to sure , although Brisbane does get dark early all year round.

I understand what you are saying abt the spiders etc.. Scary

welcome to POI hope you enjoy it here as much as the rest of us already addicted! My OH electrician also. We live in Kent and hoping to go to Melbourne by March 09 just waiting for visa at moment. Good luck and hope all goes OK for you.
