WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Hi everyone, my name is Nigel (I.T. Trainer) and my wife is Kimi (Mad dog groomer). We live in Dartford, Kent but hopefully won't be hear this time next year. We plan to go to the Sunshine Coast either on a 457 or on a student visa. Sort of depends on whether we sell the house or not. We are taking our furry family with us, our dog Darwin and our cat Stinky.
Must say what a great site this is, complete opposite to the many negative arguementative forums that had previously put me off joining in. Have been browsing through the posts for the last 3 months and have picked up so much useful info from others experiences, so thanks already.
We are in the process of deciding which route to take with the goal of being able to achieve permanent residency. Have spoken to about 6 migration agencies so far, been to the London Skills Expo, read through most of the immigration dept. site and for the last 3 hours have been reading through the posts here and now my head is spinning with information overload and the realisation that there is so much other stuff to sort out.
Hi Nigel & Kimi Welcome to the forum, sounds as if you are doing all your back ground work & getting yourselves up to speed on which route to take Your sure will get information overload from all the guys & gals on this site, everyone is so helpful All the best gizmo

Hi there.
We're in Tonbridge, so not far from you!
We too are right at the start of the process but hopefully going on a 175 visa.
I'm sure whichever you choose will work out just fine.
Good luck!
Kate
having been trying to convince Kim to move to Oz for years. I've been out twice back packing and lived with friends for a few months in Melbourne and the Gold Coast and really loved the lifestyle. Wasn't until I got told I would be made redundant later this year that Kim said "Let's go to Oz", I have been so excited about ther prospect ever since.
Had our first disappointment when after lots of research and discussions with agents and staff at the expo we found out that without a Uni qual I would not "tick the right boxes" to get pr. It's so weird, I actually teach people that qualify for MODL points but can't get them myself. Ah well, that won't stop me, I,m a determined soul.
Must admit that I would actually like to go a do a batchelors degree in I.T. to go with all my industry quals and not work to hard for 3 years. Might be dreaming a bit about the work thing but if we could just sell the damn house.........

Hi Nigel and Kimi, welcome to PIO! Is Kimi a "mad" dog groomer, or is she a "mad dog" groomer?!
Either way, you'll fit in fine!
Good luck with your application, wishing you the best of luck,
Jo x

In think the first one is closest but don't tell her customers.
