WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone!
I have just joined today but have been reading all your comments for a few weeks now. I didnt want to join and tempt fate! We are hoping to move to Brisbane in the near future but were having difficulty on finding a visa to suit as my OH has an unusual trade ( he's a roof thatcher) We have managed to find a sponser though and our agent thinks we may be able to go on a temp business longstay visa subclass 457, i dont care how i get there! We have three children aged 12, 9 and 7 and they all really want to go, i am the only one giving something up as i will be leaving my parents, two sisters and brother behind. I keep getting excited, and then suddenly panic! All we can do is take it a step at a time.
I have also applied for a 457 and have just joined here - how are you getting on with your application? I think I am nearly there but am fed up of waiting!!!
Congratulations for both of you on finding a sponsor. Look upon that part as 'it's meant to be'. Some people are still trying to get that far!
A few people I know over in Oz have told me that it's best to get out there however you can and leave the rest until then! I'm sure this isn't some people's idea of how to go about things but I believe in fate so que sera!
Hi Kate,
Thanks for the support, i think if you have got children you have to make sure everything is in place as we have got too much to give up here if we get it wrong. We are lucky to have found a sponser, but have got a long way to go yet!
Will keep you posted!!
Helen.
only just found out that the 457 should suit us,so hopefully we will start the form filling in soon! I dont know how i,m going to cope with all the waiting do you?
Thanks Nikci, If we dont try we'll never know! Hubby would leave today if he could, i'm abit more apprehensive as i will be leaving alot of family behind. I'm just taking it a step at a time.
Keep in touch.
Helen.
