New to Poms In Oz !!!!!

Hi, were a young couple thinking of moving to the newcastle area nsw. I'm a construction joiner in the u.k and will be using my trade to hopefully get us in to oz. I'm a bit worried about the heat (yes i'm a GINGER) will i fry working in the sun all day?. thanks chesney.

Welcome to PIO. Yip it's hot there and you will have to take necessary precautions to protect yourself as does everyone but I am a South African Ginger Nut and I have survived heat and sun so am sure you will - just be careful!

Hi Chesney,
Newcastle (the hunter region) is similar to the temps here on the central coast (we are about 45mins from Newcastle) the weather here is not as humid as Queensland & not as cold as melbourne during the winter. I really dont think that you will have a problem with the weather in NSW its a mix of hot days & not so hot days in the summer and not a constant heat of 40 plus everyday like Spain or Turkey can get.
Have a peek at Australia & World Weather Forecast, BoM Radar, Rainfall Map & Report and take a look at the temps past & present for the area you are aiming for.

Hey gday!! Hubbie and I are also planning on going to Newcastle too on Hubbies trade (engineer -Fitter) sublass 175.
We put in big application in end of Jan, so just waiting at the mo!!
Have you sent your TRA off yet?
Were hoping to start a family soon and Newcastle looks like a fab place with safe ocean baths, theatres, galleries shops and restaurants, plenty of things to see and do. Hopefully we will like it have been to Oz before but never Newcastle, but done a bit of research.
What do you do? jobwise? I would love an arty job,
Its seems an ideal place for havin a weekend in Sydney as only an hour and a half away!!

hi , we've not done our applications yet, i'm a construction joiner with our local council, we've been trying to find out as much info as possible before doing the forms !! we keep hearing that oz wants trade employee's but were struggling to find job's on the internet for my trade, to find out salary's,
hours, etc ....... do you know any site's.
