WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Hello welcome to PIO,
Firstly decide weither or not to use an agent. Our application was straight forward as my husband is a plumber/Gasfitter so we checked out all the options. We decided on the Gasfitter route as it does not consist of the 3 hour exam unlike the plumber route. We posted our TRA ( trade recognition) at begining of march and it was passed by 17th. It would have been alot longer if he needed to sit the exam as the waiting list can be quite long, so i would say look into this. Then decide on visa. We chose the subclass 175 skilled application as gas fitter is in the skills on demand list.
We never used an agent and it was quite straight forward. A nything an agent will advise you on, you can find on this site if you ask. Save yourself some money i say.............. We looked into it at first and it costs like £1500 AND THAT WAS ONE OF THE CHEAPEST.
If you have major hurdles like convictions, adopted kids stuff like that then it may be for you. Dont get me wrong my husband is self employed and we had to supply loads of info but as i said whatever you need to know just ask, someone will help you,
our visa is posted and being looked at now, We are headed to brisbane as i have researched all the differant areas and fancy that most. Our kids are 1 year and 5, Good luck whatever you decide on and feel free to ask questions along the way. God i did........
