Sponsored migration

Hi All
New to this forum as my wife has just got accepted for a sponsored migration to Qld as a nurse. Has any body been through this particular way in and have you got any hints or tips. It all seems a bit daunting at the moment. Paperwork, selling house etc etc.

Any help or tips would be well received.

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

Did your wife not want to go on the 175 visa, which would have given you PR right away? We came on this visa - there are a few nurses who have via the sponsorship route. We have started an official nurses thread - get your wife to put a post on there too

Ali

Hi Ali
It's the hospital that has determined which visa and in our case it is the temp visa. Unless you know of a way round it!!

Andy.

Hi
Was it straight forward or was there any problems? We are going to the otherside,Queensland, so I suppose there will be differences in the way that the various health authorities work. They have predicted a starting date of 6 months time just in time for the summer. What kind of visa did they give you??

Andy

I applied for the 175 visa, then approached hospitals (I didn't want to be tied to one in case I didn't like it there), I got offerred a perm post before my visa was granted - just let them know when I got it. It helped because after 6 months I applied for another job in the community which was in the same hospital, but had it not been I'd have had to try to arrange another hospital to take over my sponsorship.

I am here on a 457 visa which has its restrictions, we had no choice as we are both over 45. I started work on 25th Feb this year and the hospital are now going ahead with the sponsorship for PR, usually you have to wait longer. From start to finish the application process to get here took 5 to 6 months, so pretty quick.
