Hi there, I hope that I have done this right, never used one of these forum things before.
We have just started on the long & winding road to move to Oz. My OH is an HGV driver & the guys at thinkingaustralia have just informed us that if we can get him out to Oz to retake his test then we might be able to get a sponser for him, this all sounds pretty exciting. We are aiming to get him out there in Aug/Sept.
No doubt I will be asking lots of questions & we look forward to hearing any bits of advice along the way!!

My OH half is a HGV Mechanic we are also with thinking australia, we started process just before all changed from TRA to Vetasses. My OH went for practical assessment on 10th of April, had to travel night before to north Manchester, assessment started at 730am -630pm. Long hard day but got through it , they said should know in 7 days, still waiting - fingers crossed !!

We are new to this too. Me and OH have been talking about migration for what seems like forever, but have only recently started seriously looking into visa's etc.
I get butterflies when I think about a new life in Oz (in a good way though!), not really sure where to start - how does anyone decide where to live? Has anyone gone out to live without actually visiting first?
Very exciting though....

Laura if you came to Brisbane ,your hubby would find work easy enough (once he did the test) they are screaming for drivers.Lots of vacancies do involve working away from home though ,so bear that in mind,good luck with everything,
Hiya Jon where are you guys heading? the mines offer good money to HGV mechanics if you dont mind being inland.
Lynne ,,when picking areas ,i find pin and map came to mind!lol,,it is so hard ,have you looked at Real Estate, Property, Land and Homes for Sale, lease and rent - realestate.com.au for a guide to prices in different states or suburbs.
