Hi

We looked into using Hifx the other day as we still have our 'house' money in the UK...waiting to see what the exchange rate is up to.... anyway, we have purchased a new car last weekend and instead of financing it (the apr's are sky high here) we decided to pay cash.... so we looked into transfering with hifx and also with our bank.

Our bank is the HSBC and we opened an account with them here as well.... anyway to cut a long story short, we got a better exchange usung the transfer through the HSBC than with Hifx.

Hope wthat helps

min x

You could also try these guys.. Poms In Oz - Foreign Exchange. They are also reasonable and by all account quite good.

I was going to use HIFX but they lost all the paper work that was faxed, scanned & emailed and posted to them a total of 8 times. I lost out on a high rate of 2.48 which has cost me tens of thousands of ££££.They arent taking responsibility for it either!!! I will not be using them, and will be using Ozforex or my bank.

I've used HIFX without any problems & got a much better rate through them than the Halifax or Nationwide. Typically you get 0.5% spread on the spot rate but it does depend on the amounts you are buying.
I've never had any problems whatsoever with paperwork as I've done everything online. There's no need to send any paperwork once you've opened up your account. I'm assuming that's what the previous post is refering to.

I actually have an account with HIFX, I wanted to do a forward transaction, one where you set the rate that you want and you pay a 10% deposit, paying the balance at an agreed date. They sent the nessessary docs via email which i needed to print and sign, They wanted it faxed or scanned back. I faxed this paperwork to set this up 3 times, scanned it and sent it to them via email 3 times and sent it twice through the mail. Each time i called to see if they got it and they said that they hadnt recieved any of it which i found hard to believe. I went to the Edinburgh emigrate show and spoke with someone who has since tried to sort it out. I wasnt happy with the service from them at all. thats why i will not be using them!!! Many others have been happy with HIFX but my opinion is based on what happened to me.

We used HIFX a couple of months ago to transfer money to OZ. It was fine except that when a week had gone by and the money still wasn't showing up in our Oz account we rang to find out why not. It turned out because we have the surname Smith the Australian Financial Regulators wanted to do some further checks on us and why we were sending the money. Apparently Smith is used regularly by money launderers!! HIFX hadn't made any contact with us and I wonder if they would have if we hadn't contacted them first - apart from that they were fine and we got the best rate for that moment.

WE are going to use Hifx when we eventually get all our monies together, OH is very sensible and at times OTT when it comes to money so for him to happily use them they must be doing sumit right!! But that our personal opinion!!!

Yes - we used them and didn't encounter any problems.

Hi
We used Ozforex and they were excellent. Really friendly and easy to use-I'd recommend them.
