We have had many ups and downs with our children through the application, wanting to go, not want to go etc, and it has been an emotional rollercoaster and would have been so easy to just have given up on many occasions but stick with it.

HI thanks for the post, I know what you mean about not telling anyone, Lee my oh doesnt want to tell his parents or anybody till passes skills assessment because otherwise he thinks people will be asking all the time when are you going.etc. Plus the whole process takes such a long time its nice to have a secret for a while.

can i ask where abouts in perth you stayed. we too cannot apply for at least twelve months (when i have finished my degree). the visa process seems very confusing to me. we may use an agent when the time comes as they come highly recommended on this forum. do you go to the expo in leeds? we went but didnt find it much use. this site has been more useful. fortunately we dont really have much family just us and the kids really which is easier but friends are all saying its just a pipe dream. the main reason people dont settle and want to come back seems to be because of missing family so at least we'll be ok on the front.

Hi, sorry I've just read your post (been in bed with flu)!

We stayed at a house in Currambine, NOR. The area was lovely and full of plenty of brits (and scots) too. Sometimes we were asked by strangers if we lived over there, so we came to the conclusion that we fitted in well and didn't have "tourists" stamped on our heads.

We visited Surfers Paradise, QLD also for 2 weeks and we enjoyed it there too, but we couldn't wait to get back to Perth. We also stayed at my Grandad's house in Kewdale for a week (we had changed our flights as we didn't want to leave but couldn't find any decent accomdation at short notice). Kewdale was nice and there was a decent shopping centre at Belmont (2 mins down the road), but Joondalup area, we think suits us better.

We hoping to settle NOR but have to take into consideration any restrictions on the Business Visa as we may try to get sponsored.

We didn't go to the Expo as we thought we had to wait another 12 months before applying. We were going to go next year when we could start the ball rolling but found out on Friday from the accountant that OH can apply now! So we sent a form off to Perth to be stamped on Saturday and we will start the visa process as soon as we receive the Okay!!!

Wished we had gone to the York meet also now. Nearly went but again, thought it was a bit too early! Can we have another one?????

Where are you coming from by the way? We're in Driffield. Have you been for a rekkie yet?

Cheers jogrant - although you sound like your nearly there with the visa!! Good luck! Does it get more and more nerve-racking as time goes on?? I'm dreading the day when all our belongings have to be packed up!! (It's a long way off now, but time flies when you're having fun!!)

Must agree, sites like this do help you get all excited about it, and there's always someone able to help! The only thing is once I come on here, I can't turn the computer off!!!
