I just wanted to say thanks Lindsay, you've given me lots of inside info and all on the day that the shippers have taken my stuff!!!!
Like Dan, I'm moving to Melbourne in May (with my husband, another Dan and our twin daughters who are 2).
It's great to read from someone who is actually there and what it's really like.
We're going through my husbands job. Our visas (sorry folks) were straightforward and really quick - four and a half weeks!
We'll get 2 weeks accomodation sorted when we arrive and have to find a rental in that time.
The only bad piece of information you've given is about the trains being so packed - my husbands job is in the CBD so he'll be doing the journey. Mind you, he travels on the underground here anyway LOL.
We've been put in touch with a few people out there and know a handful of people. Sadly we'll be leaving a lot of family and friends behind.
But for our children all the positive points you mentioned will be worth it, living outside more and the better weather.
Anyway, keep on posting.

We are in Kent as well.........starting to get nervous and excited now the countdown has started. Less than 2 weeks left at work, a few weeks in Malaysia............then Melbourne here we come!
