I'll try to answer for you

credit score is not a problem at all, my brother was declared bancrupt in the uk before he left for oz, my OH is self employed and we have and still have rough times is ours is crap, so nt a worry at all.....

tools, you can take them but they have to be very clean and have no rust on them at all OH is a painter and decorator and he has to take most of his in the luggage on the plane so yes you can take them, better be rom for my flip flops !!

just had another quote for the dog £1290 but that does not include all the export docs, i have to sort those myself and the extra cost is approx $750 so still way cheaper, its with www.petxports.co.uk

mortgages as far as i can make out are easy to get and its a buyers market over there as well.

hope that was of some help

Talking Thankyou!!

Hi Helaine,

Thanks so much for your post, it's a real load off my mind!
Self-employed = SO not worth it!! We had a great year in 2006, business really took off, managed a lovely holiday at Christmas and then two clients, one after the other witheld final stage payments on their extensions. We got legal advice and it was to write it off as it could end up costing US thousands to pursue and we may not win One still owes us £8k and the other £4k We had to remortgage to pay our trade accounts and cover wages and have still not really recovered, this is one of the reasons we just want to go, but we'll be taking the clients to court first, why should they get away with it??
Anyway, rant over! But I was really worried about credit as ours is rubbish, did your brother manage to get a mortgage and everything sorted?

Thanks for the pet link, i'll get a quote from them. Handy to know about tools too, the cost of replacing them out there would be enormous!

Nicky

Good luck to you though.
Helen & Paul - Hi, I haven't been on PIO for a while, so sorry for the delay in saying hi there!
I work over in the rhondda, so we are probably even closer! We haven't got an agent as the OH is still making his mind up (like there is much to keep us here!) We are visiting his brother in December in Sydney, and he has saod he will not make any decisions until then. So I am keeoing myself busy trying to find out all I need to know so we will be prepared for when (if?) he says yes.
What part of oz are you hoping for? Do you have kids? Sorry for all the questions, but it's nice to know somebody close (ish) who understands how I am feeling.

Hi everyone,

I mentioned that Craig and I were thinking it would be a good idea for him to go out and find a job, suss out the areas etc while we wait for our PR Visa when he would come back for a couple of weeks to help with the move, if he were to do this which Visa would he need to apply for first? We're really keen on this, seems like a good idea, any thoughts?

Hi Emma

Went to Melbourne last August and loved it. My husband is a Painter & Decorator but we have recently have been thinking about Brisbane. But at the end of it all, we would have to go where there is a need for his skills. Yes, I have a daughter whos is 5. I want to make the move whilst she is still young. What about you, any kids? I feel so frustrated that no movment for us.

Hi Craig, & Nicky
Welcome to pio, there are lots of friendly people on here who will give you any help or information
you need.

We are going to Perth as soon as house sold, we also have four dogs but as one is old we will only be taking three ,two beagles and a border collie.
Good luck in your visa application it takes time but its worth the wait.

Ooh, my lot are Beagles! How old are yours?.........have you got your permission for more than two yet?....... Wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about the process if you've started it..........we might only be taking three now........how much are your lot costing you to get there?........what transit company are you using?..........whereabouts in Perth are you going?...so many questions!

Hi Nicky

I have sent you a PM. What a coincidence we both have Beagles !!

I really do need to understand a whole lot more about having more than 2 dogs - we have got our visa and are waiting for our house to sell !!! We have had one quote for two dogs and a cat ! of £4,500 but that didn't include quarantine which I understand to be around $800 each. I honestly don't think we will get much change out of £10,000 - but I look at it as they have paid for themselves as I have been breeding Beagles for the last 13 years.

Keep in touch

Hi Helen
we have yet to visit oz (december) but OH brother is in Syd, and loves it. We have 2 kid Girl age 5 and boy age 7, so it would be great to go before they start Comp!!! I am waiting for OH to agree that the move to oz will be best for us all round. Have been emailing CV's left, right and centre to see about employment, OH is a supp and dist. manager. We will be visiting Brissie in Dec, and then driving back to Syd, so we will get a feel of life on the gold coast... But anywhere will do!!
