Hello!

Just registered, so thought I would say hi!

We are seriously looking to flit down under....My family all live in the Rockingham area of WA, so we would probably start off in that area.

I am a nursing sister at CNDRH, my husband is a data and network cabling project manager. We also have a 6 year old son.

We hope to go over and continue with our current jobs ( stick to what you know! ).

We are also going to the Leeds Expo next week.....Is anyone else????????

Sure I have bored whoever is reading this senseless already......

Look forward to hearing from anyone going through this life changing experience.!

Melody. xx

Hello Melody

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

Nursing is at about the top of the list for skills that Oz most needs, as you know.

Do this on your nursing skills, I suggest, rather than on Hubby's IT skills.

Please see the following links:

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

Search Results - Department of Immigration and Citizenship

Professionals and other Skilled Migrants - Workers - Visas & Immigration

Australian General Skilled Migration Booklet

Best wishes

Gill

Hello Melody..

Not going to the Leeds expo, nor are we in WA, but just thought I would say hi and welcome to the forum. Everyone's really friendly and helpful, so I hope you enjoy your stay!
A nurse? You should do well over here!

Hi there.... the web site is.....

Opportunities Australia - EXP08

Hope this helps! I am a complete techno phobic so not sure how to attach a link!! Sorry. x

Here's hoping the expo gives us some answers / reassurances that we are making the right decision..... ( I know I am, Lee (Hubby) just needs a little more reassurance I think! )

Hello Meldoy,

I'm pretty new to this site too! We have just sold our house and hope to fly to Adelaide end of May. I work as an RMN my husband works on the railway and had no points to get in so we applied for a skilled visa and I alone had enough points to get the whole family in. You can get a free assessment online who will give you your point score in seconds. You have nothing to worry about being a nurse. Good luck with your application and if you need any advice with the skilled application let me know.

hi there oh you are soooo lucky that you are off in may, Marie. we are only just at the "don't know what to do first" stage. Melody being a nurse i'd have to say everything will be fine for you, we, on the other hand are stuck as to how OH is going to get skills assessed (BAKER) no qualifications just exp' have looked at the link for expo in london but my boys birthday weekend! Leeds is too far i think we are in kent. Is going to expo really valuable because i have read about stall where a bloke wasted some peoples time but then there was a woman that was brill?? see if you can find any threads about expo's and recommendations of agents at these places then zoom in on them, however I think meeting people like ourselves , mad about OZ would be great anyway!! jane
