Smile Taking the plunge!!

Hi , first post so please be gently !!,

Right been flicking through some post and the amount of help and advice looks supberb.I will try not to steal other peoples posts so hear we go .

I am Paul i am 31 and married to Hayley 30 in may, we have two daughters Rachel 5 and Amy 1 in may, now i am becoming more and more disallusioned with the way my life in the uk is panning out , basically i am working harder and harder for less and less ,

I worry about the society my wife and children are growing up with and would like to think i could do better buy them ,

I need some way of reassuring my wife (and myself !)that if we did decided to start the ball rolling that our quality of life wouild change eventually and the way of life and society values are different in oz ,enabling us to have more quality time in safer surroundings

Blimey what a load of waffle , sorry to go on hopefully some one will have a few words of advice , am willing to take the good and bad ,

Thanks for reading

The Martins

Hi The Martins, Welcome to PIO. We are newbies to this too, its very addictive.........

Cannot give you any real reassurances as we too are still undecided as to whether to go for it. We could have written your post ourselves and we feel exactly the same way.

We have decided however, the only way for us to decide is to go out to Oz and see for ourselves. I have been before but I was single and had very different outlook to life. I am now a mum to 2 and so look at things very differently.

Im sure you will get lots of replies very soon.

All the best with your decision.

SNAP!!!!!
I'm Paul, also married to Hayley. We have to boys under 5. Like yourself, I seem to be working my behind off every week but don't seem to get the quality of life. I' fed up of hearing of crime on the news and we worry about what our boys will have to experience if they grow up in UK. We have almost finished the moving process and expect to get over to Queensland in the next few months. I suppose my advice would be this, don't expect Australia to be the answer to everthing, but if you work as hard over there as you have to over here, the rewards are there. In making up my mind to move, I asked myself one question, would I have regrets in years to come if I did'nt go?? At the end of the day, if it does'nt work out, you can always come back.

WELCOME! As the saying goes................What will be, will be..................I personally think you are doing the right thing for you and your Family and am a great advocate of "you never know until you try" I "haven't" tried yet................but going for it in 4 weeks..........I'll either love it or hate it BUT "I tried"!!!!!! NOT much help I know but hey! Follow your instincts.............you have nothing to lose AND if you come back to the UK at least you can hold your head high!

Hi Paul my husband and I are in axactly the same place as you not actually started the prosess yet but looking very seriously into it, and are having a month in Perth at the end of the year to make that final decission. My thoughts are much the same as the others we have two kids we want the best for them, so lets give them an adventure and if in the prosess we end up staying then thats fantastic!! Good luck with taking that plunge.

HI Paul if you are looking for answers this is definitely the place to look for them. Like you we are at the start of the process trying to work out where, when, why etc etc. We booked flights to Melbourne to see friends and get a feel for the place and then turns out a job in Perth appeared that would suit hubbie so sent his CV there!! So who knows!!

I have 2 teenagers and 2 under 5 - all my OH's!! For some reason we thought we would put ourseves through it all over again!! If my teens were teens at the time probably wouldn't have bothered!!

Anyway kinda changed our perspective again with the little ones - a whole new lease of life - so like you looked at crime/society/way of life and thought it's now or never!

Whole range of different issues with the 2 older ones - won't bore you with that , gone on long enough all the best keep an eye on this site it's fantatstic!

Catherine
