All insurance is a gamble really. There are some advantages to private health cover which include - choice of doctor, choice of hospital, private rooms, shorter waiting lists for elective surgery etc plus some refunds for ancillary services like optical, dental etc.
If you wait before joining a private company, the premiums you will pay will increase for every year over 30 at the time you join up.
There is a search function on iselect which could be helpful to you.
I think having private cover over here is a personal choice,i have spoke with people who have it and some who dont, and other than waiting times and some of the money back theres not much difference.I have used both the private and public system and was happy with both. For finance reasons we dont have private cover ,,

If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place...
If you get a chance, take it, If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy they just said it would be worth it...
