Wow tom u could open a big can of worms here!
My choice would be Brisbane but everyones circumstances are different. Are you going with a family? I am going with 3 children and prefered the pace of life in QLD.
I am a cockney but hate living in a capital city and Sydney is a capital city all be it far more pleasing on the eye than Old London Town. They are so very different in all aspects. What are you looking for in Oz?
Im sure you will get a mixed response

Good Luck!!

Steve

hi Tom.
we are hoping to settle an hour from sydney, on the central coast, looking at the areas of gosford, terrigal, avoca beach area.enough away from the city, but it is still not too far away if we need to go. we like the look of the area, housing seems resonable, lovely beaches, looks like plenty to do,without it been too busy,as we have a 10 year old and a 4 year old.but everyones tastes are different.all the advice i can offer,is to do plenty of research.

And to toss the coin ,,,we are about 40mins (SW) from brisbane cityand love the laid back lifestyle, the hussle and bustle of Surfers Paradise or the city is under an hours drive if we want it ,property is reasonable to buy ,jobs are about, and schools are pretty good.Id seriously consder the best job and go with that ,,if you dont like it or cant settle you could always move, tough decision ,,good luck
