Smile What are the first steps to getting started??

Hi All,

After reading the posts on here for the last month or so I have decided that I now need a bit of advice.
We are a family of 4 who are wanting to move to Australia, we would be going over on my husbands job, he is an Implementation Manager for a computer software Company. We have been on many Australian employment agency websites which have a few jobs my husband would be able to do.
What we need to know is what is the process from start to finish??
What is the first steps we need to take to get the ball rolling??
Thanking you in advance!!!

Hi Critchley Clan,

Not sure if you had a look but the first step is to check whether you will have a good chanc of getting visa so visit the OZ immigration site

Visas & Immigration

You need to research what Visa you would be eligible for - most popular is 175 - Skilled Independant. Is your husbands job on the SOL (skilled Occupation List)? Check here -

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121i.pdf

If it is then you also need to check you meet the basic requirements - Age, Health, speak English, Work experience. .

Once you can confirm all this, then start the process - basically get your skills assessed by appropriate authourity (likely to ACS if you husband is in IT), pass IELTS exam, apply for visa, sort Health checks and Police checks - its a long process but you'll lots of info on here to help.

Sorry if this is too basic and not what your after.

Some people employ migration agents to help them

Cheers
Rob
