Advice ??
leave now before it is too late and you are addicted, you will soon be on here every day, twice a day, or more the house work will suffer............................................ ........ but
seriously tho, there are lot's of folks on here in the same position as you, searching threads and posts about what you want to know can be a good start.
Leaving family will be hard, but as has been said often the world is a much smaller place, cheap or free phone calls, I have just spoken to my Sis for over an hour, for free! we talk as often as we did when she was still here, the difference is that we can't pop round, we can't hug when one of us needs it and sometimes you just need to talk there and then and you have to wait until they are up.
You need to think about how being far away from your family is going to affect you, and them, how often are they going to be able to visit or how often are you going to go back to the UK
and balance this against the benefits to you and your family living in Oz, at the end of the day only you and yours will know how this will affect you
Good luck

Hi Coxey.
welcome to PIO.
we have a big family too.so the wrench will be horrendous too.but we are doing it for our two children, for a better life for them.like alot of people on here are doing.it is a major decision, but when you look at the way that britiain is headed, and how many british are emigrating,it gives you a good idea why people are abandoning this country as fast as they can.
everyone on here is lovely, ask away, there is always someone on here that can help you with advice and info.

Hi, I am new to this as well, Coxey. My wife and I are looking to migrate to Oz too. I am seriously thinking of retiring early and my wife is looking to pursue her career. We have a large family as well, but they have all flown the nest, accept for one, so we are going to bring him so he can finish his education in Oz. I've heard the schools are good and the sport is just what he likes. If there is anyone out there who retired to Oz, I would love some feedback. Great site by the way. Regards, Steve.

Hi Coxey
Welcome to POI you will now have no life apart from here!
We are planning on making the move some time this year (Melbourne) just waiting for visa to be approved which we hope will be anytime from May onwards.
I would recommend Brisbane/Sunshine Coast area to you as you have young kids but you need to try and get to Oz and have a look for yourself as everyone likes different things and the cities are so different, none of them are alike it would be your personal choice.
Hope it all goes well for you. Keep us all posted!
Regards.
Les
