TRA Cabinet Maker

Hi

OH is a Joiner/Cabinet Maker and we have been looking into the VETASSESS / TRA thing and it seems sooo much quicker, cheaper and easier to go down the TRA Cabinet Maker route (as in there doesn't seem to be the practical test or the extortionate cost either) that we think we must be missing something. Has anyone who has done the TRA Cabinet Maker route got any tips or pointers? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Donna (and James)

Thanks for your post. We're just in the early stages - still checking things out so we're not really sure of anything at the moment! It was a bit of a shock when we realised what you have to do to get into the place! I hope it is going to be worth all the effort and expense... We are thinking of going to Queensland and have a holiday / fact finding mission booked in August this year so hopefully things will become clearer after that.

Hi Donna and James, don't know if I too late with the info for you, but if James is a joiner, he can not use TRA anymore as they have stoped pathway D which was the way in, it changed on 1st Sept 07, you need to go through Vetassess now, they assess your skills with paper based assessment, if you pass that you get to do the practical test, the reason we started this last April with TRA, but unfortunately got caught up in change over, and have to now go through Vetassess, my OH is also a joiner. So sorry and hope this helps you.
Good luck.
Andi.
