[Edinburgh to Sydney]

Hello

Just thought I would say hi to every one on PIO.

My name is Gemma and my husband is Robin both 29.

Rob is Scottish and from East Lothian and I am English and from the lake's/Cumbria.

Robin was offered a job in Sydney 2 days before christams, we then accepted and applied for a 457 work visa in February through my hubby, finally after weeks of stress and worry and the feeling that we were going slightly insane our visas arrived.
We will be flying over at the end of April from Edinburgh have two weeks off to find accommodation and me to get a job and then robin starts work.


Were have just received our passports back today with our visa's attached, we are both really excited but a little nerves at the same time as we don’t know any one in Sydney and we have never been to oz before(crazy in know)

We would love to here from any Brits especially in Sydney

good luck with the move,we are also from east lothian,we're hoping to go on a 175 skilled visa.just at the start of the process and hoping to get visa at the end of the year then move to brisbane/gold coast area this time next year,again good luck i hope it all goes well for you

Hi Gemma - Hope you like Sydney. Nice time of year to be arriving - hopefully we'll be over the hot and humid weather by April (I bet the people in Adelaide are sweating right now).

There are many Brits in Sydney including quite a few PIOers. Watch out for the meetups mentioned on this site.

gemma we live in the lakes too.on the west coast of cumbria.we are hoping to go to nsw,looking at gosford area,an hour from sydney.hubby is an engineer,i am a senior support worker. we have two kiddies aged 10 and 4. good luck with your move,hope everything goes okay.

Hi Gemma

Were heading to Sydney in June, we have a son so our requirments are probably a little different. We were in Sydney in 2004 and loved it. The Lower North Shore area we loved, area's like Mosman & Neutral Bay all have something to offer. Really depends what your looking for. Eastern Suburbs are nice in particular Surry Hills has a pretty boho feel to it, loads of great bars etc.

Have a look at this website it doesn't list every single suburb but has all the main ones.
