Diabetes In Australia

We are travelling to Queensland this year with hopes of moving eventually, my 12 yr old child is diabetic and would like to know of any other diabetic experiences in Oz

Hi Mel&jas,
My parents came for a 9 week stay recently & my dad is a diabetic (controlled by his diet)
whilst here dad was feeling a bit rough & visted local doctor (along with dad doing his own sugar tests) the doctor was very helpful & had further tests done for him and it turned out that dad needed to go onto the tablets to now control his diabetes.
the doctor also put dad onto diabetes australia who in turn where very helpful and sent dad loads of info
have a peek at Diabetes Australia
hope this is of help to you

I found out I was pre diabetic befor I flew out. I got very little info from my Doctor in England but the attension out hear has been fantastic. They really take you through the best way to contral it.

So I'm sure you have nothing to worry about

John
