Hi Louise and Family
Welcome to PIO
Do you mean a Subclass 457 Visa?
We are going to Sydney also and hoping to settle in the Eastern Suburbs there!
Where are you heading for?

HI Louise,
Welcome to PIO!!
Is it the 163 visa where you have to start a business up in Oz. If so, we are also going on this visa but I believe it is quite rare on this forum.
Unfortunately at the moment my head is also mushed (awake since 3am with the storm and just sending off vat return!!)
Let me know if this is the same visa and I will get back to you. I am also going to send some details to another member (sorry Derby will get back to you as soon as my brain wakes up!!).

hi debs,
yes we have got to start up a business and run it for 2 years out of 4 on a temp visa to begin with then perm after 4 years we did start doing it on our own as we thought it would be quite easy as i am the only sibling left in this country, how wrong was i,as my oh has owned his own business for 25 years this was the only way.thats when we decided to find an agent and they have done all the papers we just had to provide everything known to man. look forwar to hearing if its the same as you

Karlewi will become famous soon enough
Hi there and welcome to PIO.

We are going on a 163 Business Skills Visa - we had good news on Monday this week as our Visa was granted. We are off to Perth sometime this year after the house is sold !!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you could be on the same one as us. 949 is the Form you complete for the 163/164/165 provisional as well as the 892/893 and 846 residence visas.

Just to give you some idea of timeline for us on the 163. We lodged our Business Plan with the SBDC (Small Business Development Corporation) in Perth on 5 Feb 07, that was approved on the 17 April 07. I just didn't get around to doing anything then until we lodged our Visa application on the 8 November 07 and got news on Monday (10 March) that our visa was approved. We were told that it could take between 6-8 months so we consider ourselves lucky that it only took 4 months.

You are right Debs, I've not come acorss many people who are going on this type of visa.

We are not a million miles away from you Louise in Essex (about 8 miles from the Crossing). We are trying to get to the Kent meet on the 21 March - it would be good to catch up with you there if you were able to go.

Karen

p.s. no question is ever silly if it answers something you need to know !!!
