WelcomeIf you are new to Poms In Oz and migrating to Australia or currently living in Australia feel free to say hi to all the other either in or moving to Oz.
Been reading this forum for a day or two and it sems really nice and friendly so thought I'd join in.
I'm Rob (33), my OH is Di (30) and we have two little monsters - Jess (3) and Ella (20 months). We have only just started the whole process and I have yet to even submit my skills assessment to the ACS (I am IT Technical Specialist) - waiting for references from my boss.
We have wanted to go to Oz, since we went backpacking in 2000 - whole of the East coast between Sydney and Cairns, just a shame the exchange rate isnt the same as what is was thn - about $2.8 to the £
We haven't decided on a location yet although Brisbane and surrounding areas or Sydney and surrounding areas are the front runners at the moment. My SIL lived in Perth for 2 years, and said its lovely but it feels very remote so that's kind of put us off Perth - still you never know.
OK, enough waffle for now, its just good to find so many like minded people who are going through similar things.

WOW, didnt expect some many quick replies. Thanks!
Dont know that much about the central coast, we missed it out when w wre backpacking - we were on the Oz experience tour and it took you inland from Sydney to a sheep station in the middle of nowhere called the "Dag Inn" with no hot water in the morning - lovely - the next time we saw the coast we was Bryon!
What is it like there, cost of living, house prices, jobs?
"The Manns" Jayne, Anything I find out about the process I am happy to share - what field of IT does your OH work in? Have you applied to the ACS yet?
The Owens,
My OH is IT Support Technician/Systems Manager, we will keep you up to date on how we get on.
Have not yet applied to ACS, still trying to take in everything!
