About to take the plunge :(

Hi all

Myself and my wife and 1 year old girl are just about to apply for visas, mine being a skilled migration as a diesel mechanic.

We are very nervous about the whole thing, and keep questioning ourselves as to whether we are doing the right thing.

We are just about to put our house up for sale, and after paying off the mortgage and other stuff, we will have around £30k to pay for visas and starting out in Oz...will this be enough?

i have a million questions to ask.....so you will be hearing more from me :))

Thx guys

Steve

NTH SHARMAN will become famous soon enough
HiI Steve and family,

Welcome to Poms. Don't worry, we all question what we are putting ourselves through. We were going to go without even having a visit, but validating the visa became necessary so we went three weeks ago. We all absolutely loved it. And not just because of the sunshine either (cos it only put in an appearance on two out of the 12 days). Of course we are still nervous, worried and a little unsure, just the same as you will be, but you wouldn't be normal if you didn't have those feelings. Let me just say, from what I saw in the short time I was there, you'll be doing the right thing for your little girl.

Ask as many questions as you like - someone on here always has an answer.

Tracey x

Just do it and have fun

Hi,

No one ever has enough money do they? Really though you have enough as long as you expect to rent for a while. I know what you are going through as me and my husband emigrated a few years ago. We went through every emotion and were still doing so after 3 years in Australia. For family reasons we have been back in the UK and are going back to Oz for good later this year so we have to do it all again (we now have a 3 year old). Just remember, no place is perfect and it will be hard in many ways but it is worth it. Scary but good.
